On April 20, 2007 I purchased a Lazy Boy Recliner Chair from DT McCall & Sons and since then have had repeated problems with the chair mechanism working properly, and in one instance the chair flipped over backwards and I hit my head on the floor. I have tried to resolve this issue with the store but they keep telling me that someone will contact me....I'm still waiting. I tried to exchange the chair once but the store wouldn't let me due to their limited store credit and I’m on disability so my money is very tight. I spoke to a Tom Morris on the telephone who told me he was a manager and that this was the first time he was aware of any problems with my recliner, but he said someone would contacting me.
I'm still waiting.
This chair has not been used since it flipped me over backwards and put me upside down on the floor. I feel this recliner is unsafe to use and as a result purchased something else to sit on so that I wouldn't have to worry about being tossed on my head or getting hurt. What a shame, I pay $400.00 for a new chair and am afraid to use it and can't get anything done about it, even with a warranty.
On March 3, 2008 I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for assistance. I received an e-mail from;
Chris Hubbard
Senior Operations & IT Coordinator
BBB Community Mediation Center
chubbard@gobbb.org

He informed me that they would be contacting DT McCall & Sons.
On May 30, 2008 I sent an e-mail back to Chris Hubbard letting him know of my dissatisfaction with the Better Business Bureau’s lack of help.
I received an e-mail back on May 30, 2008 explaining why nothing had been done (Apparently my case had been closed).
Mr. Hickok,
Thank you for your e-mail. I see where we had received the additional information you provided at our request. However, it had not been attached to the file. Please accept my apologies for the error. I have re-opened the case and processed the complaint to the business. Again, thank you for bringing this to my attention. You will receive an additional e-mail that the company has been notified.
Sincerely
Chris Hubbard
Senior Operations & IT Coordinator
I never received another e-mail from the Better Business Bureau.
During the first week of June 2008, I received a telephone call from someone at DT McCall & Sons. He explained that this was the first time he was aware of any problems with my recliner. I told him that was the response I get every time I call them about this recliner. I was told that I would be contacted again as to what they were willing to do.
Apparently Nothing!
I was never contacted again by DT McCall & Sons.
Apparently they do not wish to correct this problem even though the recliner is still under warranty.
These people are liars and do not honor their warranties.
If you are looking to purchase furniture take your business to a reputable store
.
